river & isle brings original oil landscapes and abstract paintings into the world of home textiles. Based in New Zealand, we create linen cushions featuring hand-painted designs that bring original art into everyday living.
I am a self-taught artist based in Auckland. Every design starts as an oil landscape or abstract painting. From there, it is carefully printed onto natural linen, then sewn in limited quantities.

Yes. Every cushion design begins as a hand-painted oil landscape or abstract scene. They are then printed onto linen using high-quality methods that preserve the colours and detail.
Yes we are now selling to selected retail stores across the country. Contact us to find out which store stocks the cushion you'd like to view.
Designs are painted in Auckland. Printing and sewing are done in India. The cushion cover stitching is done by skilled tailors. It is not mass-produced in a factory, but created by human hands in small quantities. Each piece reflects the artisan's skills, creativity, and attention to detail
Linen is prone to shrinking; the covers are best dry-cleaned.
